Damage to buildings · Wood and building protection against moisture · Examination of the building fabric · Preservation of evidence · Quality Control during construction

Damage to buildings: This subject area covers the entire field of building damage. It contains the analysis of damages, the evaluation of deficiencies, allocation of responsibilities as well as the determination of causes of damage.

Wood and building protection against moisture: The subject area is characterized by damage to wooden components, mold infestation and building physics issues. Old and new buildings are subject of wood- and building protection issues.

Examination of the building fabric: The examination of the building fabric is an important cornerstone in the renovation and modernization of buildings. One focus is the moisture and salt analysis of the masonry.

Preservation of evidence: The task of the preservation of evidence is the determination of the actual condition on structures and open spaces that may be affected by the effects of a construction project. Above all, the preservation of evidence has the objective of creating legal certainty for the parties involved in the construction and third parties as well as avoiding disputes and damage to the image.

Quality Control during construction: Quality control is an instrument for ensuring faultless performance. Here we see our focus in the accompaniment of special procedures. The inspection before the end of the warranty period and the purchase advice are part of quality controlling.

We about us

We are a bureau of publicly certified experts whose speciality is building damage claims. In this context, our main focuses are on wood as a building material, problems resulting from moisture and mould, as well as damage caused by wood-destroying fungi and insects. Parallel to our consulting work, we have an additional work focus in teaching and research. Our office does business throughout Germany

As publicly appointed and sworn experts, we have specialist expertise, independence and impartiality as well as confidentialness and reliability.

We not only prepare expert opinions that establish facts or determine causes; we also advise and assume responsibility for regular checks and monitoring, analyses and evaluations.
In order to obtain the seal of approval of public appointment, we underwent extensive testing procedures. But even now our work is continuously monitored by a controlling body commissioned by the German federal government. Consequently, continuous advanced training and further development are a matter of course for us.

Our Bureau of Engineering Expertise has been in business for more than 16 years. In addition to our expert consulting work, we work on a number of national committees. Dresden's Chamber of Industry and Commerce appointed us as experts for "Structural and chemical wood protection" as well as for "Damage to buildings".

Our primary clients are government agencies, architectural offices, cooperatives, real estate developers and private persons.

What we do

Among others, our technical competence includes the following working fields:

Wood preservation:

  • Preparation of expert opinions on wood preservation
  • Analyses of wood damage
  • Identification of fungi and wood-destroying insects
  • Testing of chemical wood preservation on new and old wood
  • Building condition analyses on the condition of wood in old buildings
and for the preservation of historic monuments
  • Endoscopic and instrumental examinations
  • Special procedures (e.g. hot air against dry rot)
  • Monitoring of harmful organisms: trapping systems and diagnostics
  • Coatings
  • Wood as building and basic construction material (e.g. flooring, windows, doors)
Wood protective examination

Damage to buildings:

  • Problems resulting from mould
  • Fogging and odour
  • Structural waterproofing, and inadequate waterproofing
  • Damage to roof and facade
  • Investigations of the constructional condition of masonry
  • Moisture and salt analyses
  • Preservation of evidence
  • Determination of warranty defects
  • Quality control
  • Construction-accompanying support
Problems resulting from mould

We have our own laboratory equipped with many analytical techniques for processing the individual operational areas. Consequently, we can process complex performance requirements and subsequently submit appropriate evaluations and restoration proposals.

We have extensive experience in the field of monument restoration and can document this on the basis of expert opinions made on a large number of well-known historical buildings. We work closely with laboratories, technical inspection agencies and architects.
